Both paving stone and stone wall cladding
Slate Stone is for those who want to cover both the ground and the walls with the same stone. It is used as paving stone on garden paths and terraces, and as stone wall cladding on garden walls and facades. Slate is a layered metamorphic rock. Sizes range from 15 to 80 cm; each piece has a different shape and texture.
Slate on floors and walls
On garden paths it is used as individual stepping stones or laid close together. It is laid on a mortar or sand bed. On walls it is applied with adhesive to a sound, clean surface; on exterior walls, choose an adhesive suitable for outdoor use. Large pieces fit more easily on the ground, small pieces on walls.
Before ordering slate stone
Measure the area in m² for floors, or the surface to be clad for walls. Thickness varies by batch; we state it in the quote. You can ask for a sample to see the variation in tone and texture. If you will use it on a wall, make sure the wall's plaster is sound; stone is not clad over flaking plaster. Decide on the joint width beforehand as well: narrow joints give a more unified look, wide joints a more pronounced one.
For slate pieces with softened edges, see Tumbled Slate; for multicolored slate, see Rainbow Slate Stone. Contact us through our contact page for a quote.
