Product description

Light-colored stone for pots, terrariums and garden ground

Dolomite Pebble Stone is for those looking for white and light-toned gravel. It is used at the bottom of pots and in terrariums. It is also spread as garden ground cover, as flower bed mulch and on walkways. There are seven grades: fine 5-10 mm up to coarse 6-10 cm. Dolomite is a carbonate rock; its chemical name is calcium magnesium carbonate.

Before using dolomite gravel

Because dolomite is a carbonate, it can increase water hardness after prolonged contact with water. If you are thinking of using it in an aquarium, wash the stone first, leave it in a bucket of water for a few days and measure the water parameters. For the same reason, run a small test first in pots of plants that need acidic soil. If color matters to you, ask for a sample before ordering; light tones can vary from batch to batch.

For a dark ground cover stone, see Basalt Natural Stone; for colored gravel, see Granite Pebble Stone. For a quote, send us the area or quantity, the grade and the sales format through our contact page.

What is Dolomite Pebble Stone used for?

  • White and light tones

The light color brings out dark-leaved plants and dark stones.

  • Pots and terrariums

Used at the bottom of pots and in terrariums.

  • Garden ground cover

Spread on garden ground, as flower bed mulch and on walkways.

  • Seven grades

The fine 5-10 mm grade suits pots, the coarse 6-10 cm grade suits flower bed edges.

How does Dolomite Pebble Stone work?

In pots, the stone is placed as a thin layer under or over the soil. In terrariums, it is spread as a base layer. In the garden, the soil is leveled, a weed barrier is laid and the stone is spread in an even layer. Because dolomite is a carbonate, a test is done first where it will be in constant contact with water.

How Dolomite Pebble Stone differs from standard products

TopicOrdinary productThis product
Bare soilSoil is left exposed in pots and flower beds. A layer of stone covers the soil.
Contact with waterEvery stone is assumed to affect water the same way. Test it in a bucket before using it in an aquarium.

Using and installing Dolomite Pebble Stone

  1. Decide where to use it

Choose a fine grade for pots and terrariums, a medium grade for garden ground and a coarse grade for flower bed edges.

  2. Wash the stone

Rinse the stone with water to remove dust before putting it in a pot or terrarium.

  3. Test it if it will contact water

For an aquarium or water feature, leave the stone in a bucket of water for a few days and measure the water parameters.

  4. Spread it

In the garden, level the soil, lay a weed barrier and spread the stone in an even layer.

Care: Dust and leaves show up faster on light-colored stone. Collect leaves regularly and wash soiled stone with water.
