Brick-colored ground cover
Crushed Brick is for those who want a brick-colored ground cover in the garden. It is made by crushing fired clay bricks; it is not natural stone. It is listed in the Natural Stone category because it is used together with gravel and natural stones in landscaping. In flower bed mulch, on garden paths and as pot topping, the fine pieces cover the soil.
Before using crushed brick
Fired clay absorbs water; its tone darkens when wet and lightens when dry. Because clay is softer than stone, it can crumble and produce dust over time on a busy path; use it in flower beds and on garden paths rather than on heavily trafficked ground. Before spreading it, lay a weed barrier and border the area with a curb. To work out the quantity you need, send us the area and the layer thickness you want. Using crushed brick in separate sections rather than mixing it with natural stone gravel keeps the pattern clear.
To build a pattern, see Basalt Natural Stone for a dark color and Dolomite Pebble Stone for a light color. For brick pieces with softened edges, there is the Tumbled Brick page. For a quote, send us the area and quantity through our contact page.
