Covering ground with natural stone instead of slabs
Basalt Natural Stone is a graded stone for those who want to cover a garden area, walkway or flower bed with natural stone instead of laying slabs. It is spread over the soil, reduces mud and dust, and gives the ground a dark, tidy look. The stone is basalt, a rock of volcanic origin.
Choosing a basalt grade
There are eight grades: fine 5-10 mm up to coarse 10-15 cm. The fine grade suits walkways and pot topping; the coarse grade suits infill and dry creek beds. On ground that people will walk on, fine grains shift less underfoot. Large pieces are used along flower bed edges and in dry creek beds that imitate flowing water. Using two grades in the same garden separates the path from the infill.
Before spreading the stone, level the soil and lay a weed barrier. To keep the stone from spreading sideways, border the edge with an edging strip or curb. If you are looking for colored gravel, see Granite Pebble Stone. For a quote, send us the area, the layer thickness you want and the grade through our contact page, and we will calculate the quantity together.
