Covered space for boat and ship work
A shipyard tent is for shipyards and boat workshops that do not want boat or ship building, maintenance and painting to be affected by rain, wind and sun. The galvanized steel frame closes the top and sides of a boat on a slipway or concrete yard with PVC-coated polyester tarpaulin. We supply shipyard tents, and we provide the Warehouse Tent Installation service with our own team.
In a shipyard tent, the boat determines the size. The length is found by adding a working allowance at both ends to the length of the boat. The height is set by the boat's height on the cradle, its mast if it has one, and the hook's working clearance if a crane will be used inside.
Options for the Shipyard Tent
- Fully opening end: The boat is brought into and out of the tent by fully opening the end curtain or door on the short side.
- Length: Length is extended by adding modules to the frame; when a larger boat arrives, the tent can be enlarged to suit it.
- Coastal conditions: A seaside yard is exposed to wind. The frame is chosen according to the snow and wind load calculated for the project's location.
- Painting and sanding: An enclosed space limits the spread of paint and sanding dust to the surroundings. Specify your ventilation needs inside at the quote stage.
Quote and permission
For a quote, send the boat's length, beam, height on the cradle, your crane requirement and the ground of the yard. If a project-specific frame is needed, we offer our Steel Structure Fabrication service. In Türkiye, Article 5 of Zoning Law No. 3194 also counts temporary and mobile facilities as structures. Consult the relevant authority and the shipyard management before setting it up.
For a workshop-scale maintenance area, see the Workshop Tent page; to cover the boat itself, see the Yacht and Boat Cover page. Other models are in the Shipyard Tents category. You can reach us via the contact page.
