A cover for concrete poured in the cold
A concrete curing blanket is not a tent but a curing cover laid over fresh concrete. It consists of multi-layer insulation fill and a PVC outer surface. It is meant for contractors and site managers who pour concrete in cold weather. We supply concrete curing blankets to construction sites.
The purpose of concrete curing is to keep fresh concrete from losing its water too early and to protect it from freezing at an early age. By covering the surface after the pour, the concrete curing blanket helps with both: the outer surface limits water evaporation, and the insulation fill keeps the heat the concrete generates itself at the surface.
Key features
- Construction: Multi-layer insulation fill and a PVC outer surface.
- Size: Chosen according to the pour area; on large slabs the pieces are laid side by side with overlapping edges.
- Thickness: The fill thickness is chosen according to air temperature and pouring conditions. In severe cold, two layers can be laid.
- Reuse: It is dried and folded or rolled, then laid again at the next pour.
How is it used?
Lay the blanket without delay once the concrete surface is hard enough not to stick to the cover. Do not leave edges and joints open; cold air and wind get in through gaps. Secure the edges with weights or tie ropes. Decide when to remove the cover according to the project's curing plan and the site manager's decision.
To protect the entire work area from cold and precipitation, see the Construction Site Tent page. Other covers are in the Tarpaulin category. You can send us your pour area and the quantity via the contact page.
