A dining area that stays open all through Ramadan
An iftar tent is a temporary dining hall set up in an open space such as a square, park or parking lot during Ramadan, where communal iftar meals are served. Municipalities, foundations, associations and large businesses use them. It consists of PVC-coated polyester tarpaulin stretched over a steel or aluminum frame.
The tent is used at the same spot every evening for a month. That is why it is planned differently from a single-night event tent: side walls for rainy and windy evenings, lighting for the hours after iftar and a separate serving area where food is handed out are considered from the start.
Options for an Iftar Tent
- Size: Determined by the number of seated guests and the table layout.
- Serving area: The area where food is handed out is kept separate from the tables, so the serving line does not spill between them.
- Side walls: Solid tarpaulin, tarpaulin with clear windows or open sides.
Before installation
Installation in public spaces such as squares and parks requires a municipal permit. For the application, prepare a site plan showing the tent size, installation and dismantling dates, entrances and emergency exits. Discuss the number and width of exits and the location of heaters and kitchen equipment with the local fire department. Leave enough room between rows of tables for serving carts and wheelchairs.
For a dining area used all year round, see the Dining Hall Tents page; for outdoor events such as concerts and fairs, see the Festival and Fair Tent page. Request a quote a few weeks before Ramadan.
