On top of the fence, between the bracket arms
60 cm Spiral Razor Wire is a spirally coiled security wire placed on top of a panel fence or wire fence. The size in the product name is the coil diameter: 60 cm. This diameter sits between the arms of the V- or Y-shaped brackets fitted on top of the fence posts, so the height of the spiral is added to the height of the fence.
The core wire is 2.5 mm and the blade strip wrapped around it is 0.5 mm thick. The strip is pressed to form razor barbs. Both are hot-dip galvanized steel.
Wires strung between the bracket arms carry the spiral, and the loops are attached to these wires with clips. We state the number of loops and the extended length of the coil in the quote.
Choosing the bracket
On a Y-shaped bracket, the spiral sits between the two arms, directly above the post. On a V-shaped bracket, the arms also hold the spiral in the middle. A single-arm bracket angles the wire out beyond the fence; if the wire will overhang a neighboring lot or a sidewalk, take that into account beforehand. The bracket must be sturdy, because the weight of the spiral rests on top of the post.
Local regulations and safety
Some municipalities restrict razor wire on gardens and fences; in 2021, the Fethiye Municipal Council decided not to allow razor wire on garden enclosures. On farmland boundaries, the razor barbs can also injure wildlife and livestock. Check with your municipality before ordering and put up warning signs along the line.
