100 cm Grass Fence covers a balcony railing or the wire on top of a low garden wall with a green surface. It is made of galvanized steel wire and synthetic grass fibers, comes in 10-meter rolls and needs no watering or mowing.

A height that fits balcony railings and low walls

100 cm Grass Fence is attached to an existing railing or wire fence and screens what is behind it. Someone looking from outside sees a flat, green surface instead of wire.

This height is especially useful in two places. Türkiye's Planned Areas Zoning Regulation requires balcony and terrace railings to be no lower than 1.10 meters from the floor. A 100 cm fence attached to the inner face of the railing stays below the top edge of the railing. The fence does not replace the railing; it covers it. In apartment buildings, changes to the exterior appearance are subject to the building management plan, so check with your building manager before installing.

The second place is the street side. The regulation limits the garden wall in front of a building's street facade to 0.50 meters and allows a railing of no more than 1.00 meter on top of it. A 100 cm height is enough to screen the back of that railing. If your municipality's plan notes specify a different height, that height applies.

Measuring and quoting 100 cm grass fence

On corner balconies, measure each side separately and add them up; for the top of a street-side wall, measure from the top edge of the wall. How does 100 cm Grass Fence work?

The fence consists of galvanized steel wire and synthetic grass fibers. The fibers are attached to a wire carrier. The roll is unrolled, tied to an existing railing or wire fence and pulled tight. Because the fibers fill the wire mesh, you cannot see through it. The smaller the mesh, the denser the texture.

Using and installing 100 cm Grass Fence

  1. Measure the line

    Measure the length of the fence line in meters. Divide the result by the roll length and round up; that is the number of rolls you need.

  2. Choose the mesh size and color

    If you want less visibility through the fence, choose the 42x42 mm mesh. Pick the color to match your facade and railing.

  3. Check the mounting point

    Grass fence forms a closed surface, so wind load is transferred to the railing or posts it is attached to. Make sure the mounting point is solid.

  4. Unroll and secure

    Unroll the fence along the inner face of the railing, pull it tight and secure it with wire ties.

    ISO 4892-2 UV aging test report (grass fence PVC strip)

    The green PVC roll strip was exposed to 672 hours of UV aging with a xenon arc lamp according to ISO 4892-2:2013. After the test, color change was measured as 5-4 on the gray scale (5 = no change), and no brittleness or cracking was observed. The test was carried out on a raw material sample (green PVC roll strip) of the PVC strip used in our grass fences, on behalf of our raw material supplier; it is not a test of the finished fence system. Will a 100 cm grass fence stick out above a balcony railing?

No. Türkiye's Planned Areas Zoning Regulation requires balcony railings to be at least 1.10 meters high. A 100 cm fence attached to the inner face of the railing stays at least 10 cm below its top edge.

How many rolls do I need?

Each roll is 10 meters long. Divide the line length by 10 and round up. For example, a 23-meter line needs 3 rolls.

Can it be attached to my existing wire fence?

Yes. Grass fence attaches to an existing wire fence, panel fence or railing. The mounting point must be solid, because the wind load is transferred to the supporting structure.

Can I install it on an apartment balcony without permission?

In apartment buildings, changes to the exterior appearance are subject to the building management plan. We recommend checking your management plan and talking to your building manager before installing.

Which mesh size should I choose?
